Hi guys! I’m Stella, and I am an African‑crested porcupine that lives at Wild Florida Adventure Park! I have been at Wild Florida for four years. My good friends are Turk, a red-crested turaco, and Spike, a male African-crested porcupine who lives with me.

Stella can usually be found sleeping most of the time, because porcupines are nocturnal animals. While she may look spiky, Stella is an amazing ambassador animal who helps guests overcome common fears and misconceptions about porcupines.
Our animal care team is continually surprised by how calm, cuddly, and playful she can be when interacting with her trainers. Stella’s relaxed personality makes her a favorite among both guests and staff.

Not at all. While Stella has quills for protection, she cannot shoot them. Stella is gentle and relaxed, and she works closely with her trainers to help educate guests about porcupines.
Nope! Stella does not poke guests with her quills. Her quills are a natural defense, but she is very calm around her trainers and during educational interactions.
