About daphne

Daphne can most often be found lounging about her enclosure, playing with her keepers, or taking an afternoon nap (as bobcats are nocturnal creatures and therefore more active at night). Though shy in nature, her playful side makes her a great teacher about the temperaments of Florida Bobcats to those who meet her.

I hope to meet you in person someday soon! I'll probably be relaxing in a corner somewhere, but don't worry; with a mane as gorgeous as this, I'm always ready for my close-up.

Frequently Asked Questions about daphne

Is Daphne aggressive towards humans?

Not at all. Even though Daphne is a wild cat, bobcats are naturally shy and prefer to keep their distance. They’re not looking for trouble, just a little space and respect. In fact, they’d much rather slip quietly away than start anything.

Are Florida Bobcats endangered?

Nope. Florida Bobcats are not endangered. They’re currently listed as Least Concern, meaning their populations are stable across the state. That said, habitat loss and development can still affect local populations, making protecting Florida’s wild spaces more important than ever.

What is Daphne’s favorite snack?

By far, Daphne’s favorite snack is catnip. It seems no matter the cat size or species, some things are universal.

When is Daphne most active?

You can learn all about one of Florida’s native animal species and the part she plays in the Florida ecosystem. Our keepers are constantly teaching guests about common bobcat misconceptions, how bobcats behave in the wild, and what part they can play in taking care of them.
